Tres Bone was established in 2004 as a group dedicated to the advancement of the trombone trio as a chamber performing group. Founded by
Matthew Guilford (National Symphony Orchestra), Christopher Dudley (Baltimore Symphony Orchestra) and
Ken Wolff (Trombone Solo Artist), the group began meeting regularly to explore available trombone trio literature. Finding very little, Tres Bone began to commission new compositions and transcriptions for this medium and now publishes this music under the Tres Bone Publishing label available elsewhere on this site.
The members of Tres Bone are supplied with the newest technologies available from the
SE Shires Company, makers of the custom trombones played by all three members of the group. Tres Bone is active in recording and plans to regularly release CDs of new and standard material for the trombone trio including its own commissioned and arranged works.
Tres Bone, as an ensemble, seeks to push the boundaries of the technical limitations of the trombone and desires to continuously expand the musical development of the trio as well as its worldwide recognition as a serious chamber music offering. Tres Bone is available for performances, master classes and ensemble coaching and may be reached at
